John E. Timberlake, 91, passed away at Ramsey Village on March 7, 2012. A visitation will be held at Brooks Funeral Care, 7975 University Blvd in Clive on Sunday, March 11 from 5 - 7 p.m. A funeral service will be Monday at 11 a.m. followed by a burial at the Veterans Cemetery
John was born in Hico, West Virginia and graduated from Oak Hill high school. He served during World War II as a Navy radar technician. He retired from KCCI - TV after 35 years and was a member of Waukee Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife of 72 years, Thelma J. Timberlake, and a son, Charles R. Timberlake of Des Moines.
He was preceded in death by two sisters and a brother. Memorials may be given to the Urbandale Food Pantry or Hospice of Central Iowa.
