Shirley Shoning, 86, went to be with our Lord on Tuesday, July 31, 2012 at Mercy Hospice in Johnston. She was born on February 9, 1926 to Ray and Nellie Broadbent in Des Moines. She was a full time housewife, mother, sister, aunt, grandma, great-grandma and cousin all of her life.
Shirley is survived by daughters, Cheryl (Glenn) Large and Christy Sobotka; her sons, Rusty (Dody) Shoning and Jeff Shoning; sister, Carole (Leon) Logan and her favorite cousin, Ila Mullins. Shirley also has many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends.
Shirley was preceded in death by her loving husband of 62 years, Beryl, who died in 2009; her parents, and sister, Bonnie Gibbens.
Shirley requested no services and she will be cremated. Condolences may be sent to 2321 SE Winter Park Dr., Ankeny, IA 50021.
