Karen F. Lauck of West Des Moines died peacefully August 9 at after a long illness. She was born in Elgin, IL to Lawrence and Doris Lauck. She received her BA from Knox College, Galesburg, Il and MS from University of Wisconsin, Milwaukee. Karen taught for a number of years in Ill. and WI. Prior to her move to WDM she lived and worked in Grand Rapids, MI. Over the years her talent and interest in piano was rekindled leading to a professional career in performance and the recording of Karen's beautiful original compositions. This was in collaboration with her son, Zachary, a graduate of the Madison Media Institute.
Karen is survived by her beloved son, Zachary Wylie of West Des Moines, her sisters, Claudette Harrington (John) of Shell Lake, WI, Joyce (Wilkey) Fitzgerald (Roger) of WDM, Barbara Hecht (Bob) of Weyauwega, WI.; one niece and seven nephews including Andrew Wilkey, MD (Jennifer ) Ryan Wilkey (Zoie), both former residents of West Des Moines. A memorial service in Grand Rapids will be scheduled at a later date. Memorials may be directed to HCI Care Services.
