Haruko Mae Izumi, 97, died peacefully in her sleep surrounded with love and her family.
She is the cornerstone of our family and her loving presence will be missed every day of our lives.
Her constant reminder of her love of family and being a lady of grace will always be honored and cherished. She is blessed with having a best friend daughter, Linda Marek and a loving son in law Chet Marek, along with her granddaughters, Marisa and Midori, and grandson, Michael that cared for her daily needs. Her loving son, Mark Izumi and loving daughter-in-law Lori Izumi along with grandsons, Zachary and Alex, and granddaughter, Megan loved their grandmother so very much.
She taught us to have kindness in your heart and to live your life to the fullest.
She is also survived by a younger sister, Midori Shimamoto of New York City. Mae was born in Pasadena, California on November 23, 1914. She was a survivor of the depression, and the internment camp, Heart Mountain, during World War II.
She was very active into her 90's with her love of dancing and gardening. We will celebrate her life in Des Moines Iowa where she lived the majority of her life.
Donations may be made to the JACL - Japanese American Community League.
