Jerry Davis, age 70, died Thursday, August 2. A memorial service will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, August 6 at Meredith Drive Reformed Church, 5128 Meredith Drive, Des Moines, IA.
Jerry was born November 30, 1941 in Iowa City, IA to Mary E. (Hess) & Glen Leland Davis. Jerry graduated from North High School in the class of 1960 and earned his designation with the CPCU Society in 1993. He served in the US Navy aboard the USS Maury and the USS Rainer. He was the founder and principal of Davis Insurance Agency. He married Arlys Sikkink April 29, 2008.
Jerry was a member of Meredith Drive Reformed Church, Merle Hay Urbandale Kiwanis, and the Iowa High School Athletic Association. He had an active interest in officiating college and high school football, jogging, racquetball, classic cars, travel, Iowa State sports, and spending time with his grandchildren.
Jerry is survived by his wife, Arlys Sikkink; sons, Chad (Coral) Davis of Urbandale, and Ryan (Katrina) Davis of Johnston; their mother, Coe Davis of Clive, IA; grandsons, Colin, Calvin, Jayden, and Nathan. He also leaves sisters, Pat Claybrook of Des Moines and Mary (Donald) Payne of Osceola, MO; two nieces and many great-nephews and great-nieces.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a nephew, Jeff Smothers.
