Charles Edward Comegys, 82, passed away Friday, March 9, 2012, lovingly surrounded by his entire family. A funeral service will be held 10 a.m., Wednesday, March 14, 2012, at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home, 5400 SW 9th Street, with burial following at Sunset Memorial Gardens. A visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, at the funeral home.
Charles was born October 23, 1929, to Laura and Ora Comegys. He was a sergeant in the Marines during the Korean War. Charles worked at Firestone for 35 years and was a member of IBEW Local #347. He enjoyed hunting and fishing but his greatest joy was his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who affectionately called him “Papo.” His sole purpose in life was to protect and provide for his entire family.
Charles is survived by his wife, Norma “Momo”; daughter, Nancy; son, Danny (Robyn); sisters, Jean (Lee) Alderman, Donna (Hugh) Woody; grandchildren, Shane, Sara, Jeffrey, Corey, Melissa, Amanda, Angela, Heather, Danny Jr., Rebecca and twenty great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Connie, brothers, Jim, Dick; sister, JoAnn; and son-in-law, Randy.
