Victoria E. Schane Fitpold, 95, passed away at Bishop Drumm Care Center on September 4, 2012 in Johnston. A Funeral Mass will be held Friday, September 7 at 10:30 a.m. at Merle Hay Funeral Home, 4400 Merle Hay Road, Des Moines.
Victoria was born November 1, 1916 and raised in Des Moines, and then spent much of her life in Chicago before returning to Des Moines for her elder years. She worked for some years and then was a homemaker. She performed in many school plays and was athletic, excelling in track. She was a great dancer, especially ballroom dancing.
She is survived by her daughter, Blanche (Julius) Satre; granddaughter, Georgiana Droffner; grandson, Joseph (Julie) Franz; great-granddaughters, Tiffany and Briana Franz; and sister, Catherine Lucia.
She is preceded in death by her husbands, George W. Schane and Joseph Fitpold; parents, Joseph and Jennie Marino; and siblings, Anthony Marino and Theresa Cardamon.
Memorials maybe directed to Bishop Drumm Care Center.
