Faller, Verlene Lou Quail – 1932-2012

Verlene Faller died peacefully on September 3, 2012, after a lengthy illness. She was born Verlene Lou Quail on August 8, 1932 to Verlin and Leola Quail. A lifelong resident of the south side of Des Moines, she graduated from Lincoln High School. In addition to raising her family and prior to her retirement she worked for the Iowa Legislature, Riverview Care Center and for Polk County. Her greatest joys included spending time with family and friends, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Until recently, she enjoyed gardening and was always ready for a visit to Prairie Meadows.
She is survived by her six children: Kate (Paul) Carroll, Sacramento, CA; Mark (Christine) Tapscott, San Diego, CA; Matt (Denise)Tapscott,Decorah, IA; Luke Tapscott and Melissa Spaur, both of Des Moines; and Pat (Tammy) Tapscott of Ankeny; twelve grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her two infant children, John and Mary Margaret, and by her parents. In honor of our Mother's wishes a Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to Iowa Health Hospice/Taylor House or to Orchard Place of Des Moines.
We wish to thank all the many friends and relatives, along with the staff of Iowa Health Hospice and Taylor House for their compassionate care and support over the past year.
