Curtis Q. Myers, 86, passed away peacefully on August 5, 2022 surrounded by his family.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, August 9, 2022 at Caldwell Parrish Funeral Home, Winterset Chapel with visitation one hour prior beginning at 1:00 p.m. Burial will follow in the Winterset Cemetery. Memorial Contributions may be directed to the family for a future designation. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.caldwellparrish.com .

Curtis was born October 24, 1935 in Elkview-Coco, West Virginia to Ezra Q. and Amey (Darby) Myers. He graduated from Elkview High School in 1953. He then joined the Air Force in 1954. While in the service, he became an aircraft electrician from 1954 to 1958. In 1958, he met Marilyn Busch while in Washington, DC. The two were married in 1959. Marilyn and Curtis moved to Des Moines in 1954 where he worked at AT&T before transferring to be a supervisor for Northwestern Bell until his retirement in 1993. In 1974, Curtis joined the Air National Guard where he became a Master Sergeant up until 1991. Following his retirement from the phone company and Guard, Curtis worked at Best Buy, Computer Support and then West Des Moines Schools for 12 years.

In his younger years, Curtis enjoyed baseball and softball. He also loved to ride bikes, swim, refinish furniture and help Marilyn’s dad at the farm. Most importantly he enjoyed fishing and teaching others how to fish.

Curtis is survived by his wife of 63 years, Marilyn; four children, Debbie (Howard) Taylor, Pam (Mark) Myers-Darr, Mike Myers, and Kristin Myers; 8 grandchildren; and 7 great grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister, Julia Ann Taulbert; brother, Ronald Myers and many nieces, nephews and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Levi Myers.
