Jodi Breckenridge Wright passed on July 3rd, after a long and happy life. She was well loved
and will be terribly missed. Jodi was caring, loving and had an unwaveringly positive outlook on life. A wonderful mother and grandmother, she served her community, and was always generous with her time and expertise.

An Iowa native, Jodi was born in Sioux City and attended high school in Fort Dodge. She studied Journalism at Iowa State, where she was a member of Chi Omega Sorority. After graduating with honors, she began work at Meredith Corporation and was an editor for the first Better Homes and Garden cookbook.

While at Meredith, she met her future husband, Burman Wright. They married in 1953, and eventually settled in Lorimor, where Jodi joined Burman’s veterinary practice.

She and Burman had two daughters, Barbara and Ann. Jodi was constantly active in school organizations and extracurriculars. A talented seamstress and designer, she handcrafted many of the girls most cherished dresses and attire.

Jodi took a great interest in progressive politics, and was an avid reader of the Des Moines Register. She encouraged her daughters to be strong individuals, and to stand up for their beliefs.

Later in life, Jodi worked alongside her daughter Ann at 2AU, delighting clients with her wit and fabulous hors d’oeuvres. She took great joy in her role as a grandmother to Ann’s sons Samuel and Simon. In 2007, she and Burman moved to Scottish Rite Park in Des Moines, where they could better enjoy attending their grandsons’ concerts and sporting events.

Jodi always had a special place in her heart for family vacations on the Oregon coast. Her final wish was for her ashes to be scattered among the seashells and sand dollars.
