Carol Therese Griffith was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She left this world peacefully on June 24, 2022 at age 78. Her daughters, Christa Lynch and Laura Stroup, were by her side as she passed away and began her eternal journey.

Carol was born to Leo and Margaret Reihle on October 15, 1943, in New Hampton, Iowa. She was the third of six children and maintained close and meaningful relationships with all her siblings throughout her lifetime. In 1969, she married the love of her life, Ronald Griffith. Ron and Carol moved to West Des Moines, Iowa and had two daughters, Christa and Laura.

Carol’s priority was her family. She demonstrated this through her strong work ethic, her heart-to-heart talks, and daily hugs and ‘I love you’s.’ She worked at the West Des Moines Public Library for 33 years, working her way from an entry level position to circulation manager. There she made many life-long friends and made an impact on the community. Her sense of humor, strength, generosity, and kindness will always be remembered.

Carol was preceded in death by her parents Leo and Margaret Reihle, sister Laura Stolz, and husband Ron. She is survived by her daughters Christa Suzanne Lynch, Laura Therese Stroup; grandchildren Dominic John Hollyer, Elijah Blinn Caleb Stroup, Ella Leigh Nicole Stroup, and Ethan William Robert Stroup. She is also survived by her siblings Ann Conway, Ellen Kuennen, Linda Schaefer, and Jeff Reihle.

A visitation at 2:30 pm and funeral service at 3:00 pm are scheduled on Wednesday, July 6 at McLaren’s Resthaven Chapel & Mortuary at 801 19th Street, West Des Moines, IA. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to an organization dear to Carol’s heart - Lutheran Family and Children’s Services of Missouri. Adoption is an integral part of Carol’s family, and donations will go toward LFCS adoption services.
