Christel Katharine Larson, 93, was called to her heavenly home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on February 7, 2022 in Des Moines, IA. A visitation will be held on Thursday, February 24, from 8:30-9:30 a.m. at Merle Hay Funeral Home – 4400 Merle Hay Rd – with a graveside service to follow. A Celebration of Life service will follow at Hope Lutheran Church – 3857 E 4snd St. – at 10:30 a.m. with a luncheon to follow.

Christel was born on May 26, 1928 in Wetzlar, Germany to Anna Schmidt. Her father died before she was born. Christel married Boyd “Jack” Larson on February 7, 1948 in Wetzlar, Germany. She passed away on her wedding anniversary and is once again united with Jack in Heaven. Christel worked for Hy-Vee for 52 years retiring in 2011 at the age of 82. She always had a helpful smile in every aisle.

Christel was a member of Hope Lutheran Church for 48 years. She very seldom missed church – except for vacation, illness, or a blizzard.

Christel enjoyed spending time with her family and friends and her coffee time at Hy-Vee. Christel kept a meticulously clean and tidy house. She enjoyed helping others and was a kind and loving person.

Christel is survived by her children Stanley (Tammy) Larson, Roger Larson, and Linda Larson; 6 grandchildren Janae, Nicholas, Nathina, Amalee, Aleea, and Blake; and 5 great-grandchildren Lexi, Adrian, Amethyst, Dwight, and Zyon.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hope Lutheran Church.
