Edward L. Garner III
Ed, 80, passed away on February 12, 2022. He was born October 16, 1941 in Des Moines to Ernest and Bernice (Barkhoff) Garner. A lifelong resident of Des Moines, he was a graduate of Des Moines Tech. Ed founded Autorama RV Center in 1969.

Ed was a 50 year member of the Za-Ga-Zig Shrine Diplomat Unit and Royal Order of Jesters. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, enjoying spending time in Canada, the Florida Keys, and Cabo San Lucas. Ed will be remembered for telling many jokes and stories.

Ed was preceded in death by his parents, brother Richard “Dick” Garner, sister-in-law Marian Garner, and brother-in-law William Deatsch.

Ed is lovingly remembered by his wife Deborah; children: Ernest Garner, Edward (Debbie) Garner, Eric (Gigi) Garner, Brady Egli, and James (Jennifer) Parrish; eight grandchildren; and sister Judy Deatsch.

Visitation will be 6-8 p.m., Thursday, at Merle Hay Funeral Home. His funeral will be at 1:30 p.m., Friday, at the funeral home with interment at Chapel Hill Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the Shriner’s Hospitals for Children.
