JUNE 9, 1919 – FEBRUARY 11, 2012

Robert C. Williams, 92, Kansas City, MO, passed away February 11, 2012 at his home. Mr. Williams’ cremated remains will be interred at a later date in Dexter Cemetery, Dexter, IA.

Robert was born June 9, 1919 in Dexter, IA. He was a 1937 graduate of Dexter High School. On April 21, 1940 he married Zola A. Johnston. They resided in Des Moines IA from 1940-1995 and in Bela Vista, AR from 1995-2007 before moving to Kansas City in 2007. During World War II, Robert served in the U.S. Navy as a Seabee. He was an electrician by trade and member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) for 64 years. He held several positions for IBEW Local Union 347, including business manager for 13 years. From 1976 until retirement in 1984 he served as International Representative for the IBEW.

Robert served on various committees while a resident of Iowa, including: Iowa State Building Trades (Pres.), Higher Education Facilities Commission, Iowa State Code Council, Iowa State Apprentice Committee, Greater Des Moines Committee, Iowa State Electrical Workers Committee, Iowa State Affirmative Action Council and National Council on Industrial Relations. He was a 50 year member of Auburn-Union Park Masonic Lodge, and a member of the Dexter Presbyterian and Highland Park Christian Churches.
