William A. Myers, age 59 of Ankeny died Friday February 10, 2012 at Mercy Hospital in Des Moines.

Bill was born November 25, 1952 at Oceanside, CA to Robert D. and Evelyn C. Bynes Myers.

He grew up on a farm S.W. of Fairfield. He graduated in 1972 from Fairfield High School.

In his youth he was involved in showing and judging horses.

He received his associates degree from Indian Hills College in 1974 and his B.S. degree from Iowa state University in 2006.

Bill was a systems support specialist III in information technology for Iowa State Extension Office in Ames, where he had been employed for the past 10 years.

He was married to Debra Burke.

He was an inventor and enjoyed biking, boating, fishing, outdoors activities, and creating and building.

His family was very important to him. Bill volunteered each year assisting the Special Olympics in Des Moines.

He was preceded in death by his father.

Surviving are his daughter Katie Myers of Grimes, Iowa, his son Troy Myers of Cedar Falls, Iowa and his mother Evelyn Myers of Fairfield.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Faith United Methodist Church in Libertyville with Pastor Peggy Ellingson officiating.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 9:30 until 10:30 a.m. at the church.

Interment will be in the Memorial Lawn Cemetery in Fairfield.

Friends may sign the register book on Monday from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. at the Raymond Funeral Home in Fairfield.

Memorials have been established to the Faith United Methodist Church of Libertyville.

Arrangements are in the care of the Raymond Funeral Home in Fairfield.
