Marie passed away from CHF on February 7, 2012, ten days prior to celebrating her 102nd birthday. Her funeral will be 2 p.m., on Saturday, February 11 at Grace Baptist Church, with visitation one hour prior to service.

Marie Jeanette Semple, the daughter of Everett and Katherine (Smith) Tyler, was born February 17, 1910 in Omaha, NE. She was raised by her grandmother, Melissa Jane Tyler. Marie was married to William McKinley for nearly 50 years. They had two daughters, Phyllis and Gloria Jean. William and Marie owned several Des Moines area motels. Marie lived on her own until 2009, when she moved to Arbor Heights Assisted Living. She enjoyed crocheting, her pets, and gardening. Marie also loved to write poems, and teaching Sunday School.

Marie was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands, William McKinley and Orlie Semple; and her two brothers.

Marie is remembered by her daughters: Phyllis Morine and Gloria Jean (Crist) Green; seven grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; and ten great-great-grandchildren.
