Donald (Jim) Thomas, Jr. Ankeny, Iowa, ended his journey on Earth on January 28, 2012. After a lifetime of work as a policeman, 6 years in Windsor Heights and 22 years in Ankeny, he became a wonderful house dad for the last few years of his life, taking care of Andrew, 14 and Katelyn, 9. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends, working on cars, motorcycles, ATVs, swimming, and making noodles. Jim and his wife Shelly were able to celebrate eighteen years of married blissfulness.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife Shelly, sons Christopher, Brian, Andrew, and daughter, Katelyn, sisters, Catherine (Gary) Turner, Charlotte (John) Massey, and brother-in-law, Gary Hodges, many other family members and treasured friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Catherine and Donald Thomas, Sr., and his twin sister, Candy Hodges. Memorial services will be held 2p.m., Saturday, February 4, 2012, at Hamilton's near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Ave., Des Moines. Family will greet friends one hour prior to service time at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Jim's memory to his family for their future.
