Des MoinesSteven "Steve" Joseph Pritchard, age 47, of Des Moines Iowa, passed away Sunday May 8, 2011 at his home.
Steve was born March 23, 1964 to James Darvin and Elizabeth "Betty" Pritchard. He grew up in Des Moines attended Dowling High School and then he married Sue Clark the mother of his two children, Andrew "Andy" and Maddie Pritchard. They divorced and later in life he married Lexa Oxenford for five years.
He accomplished many things in his life by going after the things he wanted to do and making them happen. To name a few accomplishments, he loved to play his guitar, be an outdoorsman, champion swimmer, traveling Sonographer technician, and house remodeler. He loved and cared deeply for his family. Before he left this world he was spending a lot of time taking care of his elderly mother and helping his sister Anne.
He is preceded in death by his father, James Darvin and his sister, Mary Ellen. He is survived by his mother, Betty; brother, James "Jim" (Mary) Brian; sister, Anne Lauer; children, Andy and Maddie; granddaughter, Lilly; nephews, Nick Lauer, Michael, Jason and Ed Pritchard; niece, Erica Bloomer; stepchildren, Brooke Fisher and Colin Broderick; and step grandchildren, Bain and Brayden Broderick and Zoe and Talon Fisher. Lastly he is also is survived by his dear best friend, Jason McCorkel, who shared in many of his life experiences.
To honor Steve there will be a visitation at the Hamilton Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Saturday, May 14, 2011 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. This coming summer his family will gather to spread his ashes to the wind in a natural setting where he loved to be. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the family in honor of Steven. If any expressions of sympathy, they may be made to hamiltonsfuneralhome.com.
