James A. Davis, 74, passed away on Tuesday, May 10, 2011 at his home in West Des Moines. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Friday at McLaren's Chapel with cremation to follow the service.

James was born August 9, 1936 in Des Moines, Iowa to Art Davis and Lillian "Honey" East. He was a Pressman for 44 years for the Briggs Corporation and attended Maple Grove Methodist Church. James was a Crew Chief in the U.S. Air Force. He was an avid Hawkeye fan, car enthusiast, enjoyed smoking fine cigars, watching John Wayne movies and he lived for his friends.

James is survived by his wife, Glee Davis of West Des Moines; four children, Steve (Patricia) Davis and Mark (Lisa) Davis both of Des Moines, Dave Reasland of Colorado Springs, Colorado and daughter, Robyn (Patrick) Naberhaus of West Des Moines; six grandchildren, Desiree Davis, Ashlee Davis, Robert Moore, Jacob Naberhaus, Allyson Naberhaus and Arielle Naberhaus; one great-grandchild, Tracy Davis and god-son, Michael Schroder of West Des Moines. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Jim Davis, Jr.; half-brother, Charles Gripp and his beloved dog/companion, Dusty.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at McLaren's Chapel.
