Resided in Johnston, IA

Loren Drew Blake, 44, went to be with his Father in Heaven on Tuesday, May 10, 2011. Funeral services will be held at 6 p.m. on Thursday, May 12, at First Baptist Church, located at 8250 N.W. 62nd Avenue in Johnston. There will be no visitation. Private graveside services will take place on Saturday, May 14, at Oakwood Cemetery in Waco, TX.

Drew was born January 21, 1967, in Amarillo to Larncie Glen and Karen Turner Blake. He was raised in Stratford, Texas, where he worked on the farm with his beloved grandfather, L.B. Blake, and graduated from Stratford High School in 1985. Drew served in the United States Navy on the U.S.S. El Paso. He attended West Texas A&M University where he was a member of Kappa Alpha Order. He then earned his bachelor's degree from Texas Tech University in 1997. Drew enjoyed piloting small airplanes; flying made him truly happy.

He leaves behind the true light of his life, his daughter, Katheryn Nikole; and his beloved wife, Tatyana Bogdanova Blake. Also surviving him are his loving parents, L.G. and Karen Blake of Woodway; his sister, Kristi DeCluitt and her family of Waco; his grandmothers, Gertrude Edna Meil Blake of Stratford and Eva Aline Coker Turner of Friona; as well as many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
