Santa Ana, CACordell Meredith Svengalis,PHD,72, of Santa Ana, CA, died of cancer on January 5. He was born on July 31, 1939 to Francis and Alvida Svengalis in Gary, Indiana. He was a graduate of Purdue University and earned his M.A. and Ph.D. from the University of Iowa in Social Studies Education. He was on the faculty of Cornell College, Mt. Vernon; Grandview College, Des Moines; and most recently California Coast University, Santa Ana, CA.
He also served as the Social Studies consultant for the Iowa Department of Education and conducted several teacher conferences in Europe for the U.S. Information Agency. He was preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his daughter, Dr. Sarah Svengalis Fraley (Paul), Irvine, CA; son, David Svengalis, Hollywood, CA; grandson Mark Fraley and step-grandchildren Angela, Sean, Alexandra, and Billy Fraley; former wife Judith Svengalis, Des Moines; former wife Jerda Garey, McCook, NE; his partner Sharon Miles, Santa Ana, CA. and his brother, Kendall Svengalis, North Stonington, CT.
