Marilyn Ann (Johnson) Lueth Vesey, 80, passed from this life on Monday, February 13, 2012 at Iowa Methodist Medical Center, in Des Moines. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, February 17, at Grace Lutheran Church of which she was a member, located at 3010 - 52nd Street in Des Moines. Cremation rites will follow services on Friday, and a private committal service will take place at a later date at Zion Lutheran Cemetery, in Hartford, S.D.

Marilyn was born on August 20, 1931 in Stanley, WI, to Arthur and Alma Anderson Johnson. She was a graduate of Hartford High School in Hartford. Marilyn taught one year of rural school. On February 9, 1952, she was united in marriage to Donald Lueth in Belleville, IL and their marriage was blessed with four children. She had resided in North Carolina, Georgia and South Dakota prior to moving to Des Moines, Iowa in 1969. In addition to raising her family and being a homemaker all of her life, Marilyn had worked at an insurance agency for a few years. Donald preceded her into eternal life in 1971. Marilyn later married John "Jack" Vesey, and they enjoyed traveling in their fifth-wheel motor home to Florida, Texas and Arizona during the winters for several years, prior to Jack's illness. He also preceded her into eternal life in 1999.

Marilyn also enjoyed camping at Cutty's Campground, playing in her card clubs, and participating in many of the activities at the Urbandale Senior Center. Most of all, she loved spending time with her family. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

She is survived and lovingly remembered by her children, Steven (Donna) Lueth of Madison, S.D., Mary (Steve) McCann of Urbandale and Julie (Paul) Wiezorek of Des Moines; one brother, Dean Johnson of Rapid City, S.D.; one sister, Judy Bentson of Sioux Falls, S.D.; 13 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her first and second husbands, Marilyn was preceded into eternal life by her parents; one son, Larry Lueth in 1996; one sister, Marjorie Hall; and two brothers, Arden and Willis Johnson.

Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, February 16, at Iles Funeral Homes, Westover Chapel in Des Moines.

The family has respectfully requested that any memorial contributions be made in Marilyn Vesey's name for the memorial gardens at: Urbandale Senior Center, 7305 Aurora Avenue; Urbandale, IA 50322. ~ The Des Moines (IA) Register, 17 Feb 2012.
