AltoonaJohn Paul Gutuskie, 91, died Monday, May 16, 2011 at Mitchellville Care Center. He was born December 23, 1919 to Claude and Katie Gutuskie in Krebs, Oklahoma.
John served in the Air Force during WWII and was a life time member of the American Legion Post 682 in Altoona. He retired from Caldwell & Hartung after many years of service as a truck driver. John was an avid Cubs fan. John is survived by his wife of 69 years, Darlene; children, Ronald (Mary) Gutuskie and Irene Howard; grandchildren, Paula (Jeff Call) Edwards, Jennifer (Collin) Vaughn, and Janna (Tony) Miller; and four great-grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held 3 p.m., TODAY, Wednesday, May 18, 2011 at Hamilton's Altoona Funeral Home, 105 4th Street SW, with burial to follow at the Altoona Cemetery. Family will greet friends one hour prior to the service. ~ The Des Moines (IA) Register Wed 18 May 2011.
