TOM L. MONSMA

The Lord called Tom home at 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 9, 2005. The cause of death was malignant melanoma. His transition was very peaceful in the presence of his pastor, mother, wonderful friend and hospice pastor at Mercy Hospice in Johnston.

Tom was born at Iowa Methodist Hospital in Des Moines on Good Friday, April 8, 1955. At one year of age his family moved to Altoona, IA, where he spent the remainder of his life. Tom received the Lord as his Savior at seven years of age.

Tom was devoted to the fellowship of Altoona Baptist Church and worship of the Lord. He was a fan of the Green Bay Packers and the San Francisco Giants. Tom enjoyed vacationing in Big Thompson Canyon, Loveland, Colorado.

Tom was devoted to and survived by his son, Eric Monsma of Aurora, Co; parents, Dwight and Shirley Monsma of Altoona, IA; brothers, Dennis and Ron Monsma of West Des Moines; devoted close friend, Dwight Grasmick and his wife Joanne; and close friend and helper, Mrs. Jane Ferguson of Altoona.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Altoona Regular Baptist Church in Altoona. Visiaion will begin at 4 p.m. today at Grandview Park Funeral Home with his family present from 5 to 7 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to The Baptist Children's Home, 354 West Street, Valparaiso, Indiana 46383; or Mercy Hospice of Johnston.
