Donna Mae Meeks, 74, of Cedar Rapids, died Monday, May 28, 2018, from a stroke, surrounded by her family and friends at University of Iowa Hospital and Clinics.

Visitation will be held Thursday, May 31, 2018 from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 PM at the Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home. Funeral services will be Friday, June 1, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. at the Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories. Burial will be held at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.

Donna is survived by her son, Keven Hendrickson, his wife Jodi; two grandchildren, Brandon and Paige; two nieces, Lisa Strand of Ankeny; and Cindy Miller of Osceola. Donna also wishes to recognize her friend, Jeri Hodson of Weslaco, Texas; and her sister-in-law, Marlen Higdon of Urbandale, for all the fun they had together.

Donna was born December 3, 1943 in Des Moines to Glen and Bernetta Higdon. Donna graduated from Des Moines East High School in 1962. In 1966 she moved to Cedar Rapids and worked for Sta-Fed Computer Tax then Iowa National Mutual. Donna retired from Rockwell Collins in 2000 after 15 years of service. She was united marriage to Jim Meeks on March 29, 1978 in Las Vegas, Nevada.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Jim Meeks, and a brother Dan Higdon. Also, her special friend Don Shaw with whom she enjoyed attending car club activities and going on many trips.

The greatest joy Donna had in life was spending time with her family, and her many friends. Having a family was a big delight in Donna’s life, with wonderful grandchildren she thought she would never have. Donna enjoyed scrapbooking, making cards, sewing quilts for St. Luke’s Hospice patients, traveling, and spending time with her Red Hat Society and Hawk-A-Model A Ford Club friends.

Memorials may be made to the charity of your choice in honor of Donna.
