Edwin Mitchell of Mitchellville, grandson of Thomas Mitchell, pioneer of Polk County and the man for whom the city of Mitchellville was named, committed suicide Monday using a rifle. Mr. Mitchell was a barber and unmarried. He leaves a mother, Mrs. Tillie Mitchell, 80 years of age. Despondency is given as the cause.
