Funeral services were held Friday at the American Union church for four members of a former Iowa family killed with 11 others in the crash of an airliner Monday. The Rev. Luther Charles Adams, his wife, and their children - Joy Belle, 16, and Charles, 14 - were killed when the plane crashed into a mountain on a flight from El Secreto to Bogota.
It was not known Friday whether a third Adams child, Leon, 1 1/2, was aboard the plane. He was not listed as a passenger, and there were no communications with El Secreto to learn if he is there.
The four members of the family, formerly of Des Moines, were buried in the British cemetery. They had lived in Colombia since 1946.
[The Rev. Mr. Adams and Mrs. Adams studied at the Open Bible institute in Des Moines during 1942 and 1943. The Rev. Mr. Adams frequently supplied in the pulpit of the First Open Bible church in Des Moines. The Adamses headed an Open Bible Standard mission school in El Secreto.]
The discovery of the body of an unidentified woman in the wreckage Friday brought the crash toll to 15. Physicians said one woman survivor had contracted pneumonia and may die.
