Boulder, Colo. - Graveside services for Paul J. Garber, 91, of Boulder, formerly of Des Moines, will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Masonic Cemetery in Des Moines. Mr. Garber died of a heart ailment here Tuesday. He was born in Decatur County and lived in Des Moines for 30 years, moving to Colorado about 10 years ago. He formerly lived in Nebraska and California. He was retired from the military branch design and construction division of the Corps of Engineers, 7th Corps area, for which he had served in Washington, D.C., Western Europe, including Verdun, France and England, and San Francisco, Calif. He was a member of the National Society of Professional Engineers, the American Societies of Civil and Military Engineers, Home Lodge 370 of the Masons, Scottish Rite Temple and the Za-Ga-Zig Shrine. Surviving are his wife, Nina; a daughter, Lee Anderson of Tustin, Calif.; a son, Jack of Boulder; two sisters, Ruth Ehlers of Annapolis, Md., and Alma West of Webster City; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Memorial contributions may be made to Shriner's Hospitals for Crippled Children. Dunn's Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
