William Raymond Fisher, 71, passed away Friday, January 9, 2009, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center.

Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, January 12, 2009 at Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd, 3820 SW 9th Street. Burial will follow at Elm Grove Cemetery where military rites will be performed.

Bill was born June 18, 1937 in Des Moines, the son of Raymond and Mildred (Hammond) Fisher. He was a United States Navy veteran, proudly serving his country for four years. Bill was a member of the IBEW Local 347 and was a journeyman electrician for over 40 years. He was an avid gardener and fisherman, enjoying his time spent outdoors.

Bill is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Pat; his children, Lorie (Alan) Hancock, Debbie (Scott) Thomsen and Billy Fisher; grandchildren, Sonia (Dustin) Roberts, Shannon (Erin) Green, Adam Fisher, Andrew Hancock and Joseph Hancock; great-grandchildren, Parker, Gage and Karson Roberts and Easton "Charlie P." Green.

The family will greet friends from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday, January 11, 2009, at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to the church in loving memory of Bill. Hamilton's Southtown Funeral Home is handling arrangements. ~ The Des Moines (IA) Register Sat 10 Jan 2009.
