Helen Marie Neighbors, 71, passed away peacefully Tuesday, May 3, 2011, at University Park Nursing and Rehab in Des Moines. Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, May 6, 2011, at Glendale Cemetery.

Helen was born January 26, 1940, in Sequin, TX, to Wilma and A.B. Neighbors. She spent her career as a nurse's aide and she was also a self-taught beautician.

Helen is survived by her son, Kenneth (Frances) Neighbors; grandchildren, Kenneth, Jr., and Nason Neighbors; siblings, Dorothy Simpson, Joe Lewis (Luvella) Neighbors, Rube Lee Neighbors, Wilma Neighbors-Thompson, Ida Denise (Roger) Gardner, Gussie Lee Neighbors, Paul Leslie Neighbors, Nora Neighbors, Catherine Neighbors and Felicia Neighbors; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews cousins and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. A.B. Neighbors; husband, James Edward Thomas; and sisters, Elvina York, Shirley McGee and Georgia Williams.
