Richard Allen Martin

Richard Allen Martin, 18, died in an accident on the Des Moines River in Johnston three weeks ago, in which his body was found Wednesday April 27, 2011. He was born October 8, 1992, in Des Moines, to Scott Martin and Peggy (Solasberry) McMahon.

Richard was going to graduate from Harbor Alternative School in the SE Polk School District this May, and was currently working at Brown National Lease in Grimes. He enjoyed working on his cars and going fishing.

Richard is survived by his father, Scott Martin; mother, Peggy McMahon; grandparents, Russell and Jacquelyn Martin and Richard Solasberry; aunts, Paula (John) Enns; Margaret (Scott) Heiman, Linda (David) Abel, and Donna Albright; uncles, Richard (Mary) Solasberry and David Solasberry; and a host of other family and beloved friends.

He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Louise Solasberry.

Funeral services will be held at 12 p.m. Saturday, May 7, 2011, at Hamilton’s Altoona Funeral Home, with visitation one hour prior to the service. A private burial of cremated remains will occur at a later date at McKeever Cemetery near Colfax.
