Helen Hentges Hintzen, age 98, passed away on May 2, 2011 surrounded by family. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, May 7, at 10 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Osakis, MN with burial to follow at St. Nicholas Cemetery, Belle River, MN.

Helen LaVena Hentges was born July 26, 1912 in Williston, North Dakota, to Clements and Helen (Quigley) Hentges. She was married to Clifford Hintzen on June 8, 1936.

Mrs. Hintzen is survived by her children: Richard (Schnoa) Hintzen of Rockford, Ill; Jane (Elwood) Hagen of Bloomington, MN; Judith Bown of Johnston, IA; Joyce Judas of Urbandale,IA; Mark Hintzen of Fort Myers Beach, FL; Joan (David) Casey of Urbandale, IA; and James Hintzen of Phoenix, AZ; one sister, Sarah Larson; eleven grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren and one nephew.

She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, two brothers; a sister, one nephew and a daughter-in-law.

Helen was active in the Business and Professional Women, St. Anne's Mission, Daughters of Isabella, Shamrock Seniors, Quota Club, and served on the Black Hawk County Board of the American Cancer Society for over twenty years. She enjoyed reading, embroidery, traveling, sewing, fishing, sporting events and being with family.

There will be a visitation from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Friday, May 6th at the Roy-Hetland Funeral Home in Osakis, MN. www.royhetland.com. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society .
