Suzanne Tompkins, 56, passed away Saturday, February 16, 2013 at Taylor House Hospice.

Suzanne was born June 19, 1956 in LeMars, Iowa to William and Delores Pfaffle. She grew up in Sioux City, Iowa and moved to Des Moines in 1976. Suzanne had been employed at Wells Fargo Bank for the past 38 years, where she had worked in various departments. She was a volunteer with Big Brothers & Big Sisters of Central Iowa. Suzanne was a member of the Red Hat Society and a Bunco club. She had a passion for the ocean and enjoyed sea shelling with her husband at their second home in Indian Shores, Florida.

Suzanne is survived by her husband, Michael Tompkins; step-children, Heather Ann Tompkins and Eddie (Heather Jo) Tompkins; granddaughter, Rebecca Tompkins; brothers, William D. "Bill" (Barb) Pfaffle and Jack (Susan Streck) Pfaffle; sister, Linda (Kelly) Florke; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, February 19, 2013 at Christ the King Catholic Church, 5711 SW 9th St. The family will greet friends from 9 a.m. until service time Tuesday at the church. Burial will take place at the Iowa Veterans Cemetery in Van Meter, Iowa at a later date.

Memorial contributions may be made to Taylor House Hospice or the Animal Rescue League of Des Moines.
