Ly Lan Ung, 66, died Sunday evening May 15, 2011 at the Norwalk Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Norwalk, IA. Visitation will be on Saturday, May 21, 2011 beginning at 10:00 a.m. at Hamilton’s on Westown Parkway, 3601 Westown Parkway in West Des Moines, with funeral services following at 11:30 a.m. Burial will take place Sunday at Haines Cemetery in Centerville, IA at 9:30 a.m.

Ly was born July 15, 1944 in Langson, North Vietnam. She worked for Iowa Health Systems for 13 years and retired when her health began to fail. Ly enjoyed gardening, cooking, and traveling. Her greatest love was spending time with her family, children and grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Chi Fong Ung; her father, Ly Viet Bao, and mother, Hoang Thi Phung. Ly is survived by, her oldest daughter, Gin Simpson and husband, Jason Simpson of Cumming, IA; son, Sang Ung and wife, Nina Ung of Norwalk, IA; youngest daughter, Mui Myers and husband, Chris Myers of Unionville, MO; and seven grandchildren.
