Frank Elson Taube, 76, of Des Moines passed away Monday May 16, 2011 at home due to congestive heart failure.

He was an avid gardener, orchardist and wood carver.

Frank held memberships in East Gate Masonic Lodge #630, AARP, NARVRE, Mid-Iowa Wood Carvers, Sons of AMVETS(Post #2), Rising Sun Church of Christ, Rock Island Technical Society and Iowa Railroad Passengers Association.

He spent 45 and a half years as an engineer of the Rock Island then Chicago Northwestern, Iowa and Iowa Interstate Railroads before retiring.

Preceded in death by his parents Frank and Elsie (Montz) Taube. Frank is survived by his wife Shirley (Haworth) Taube ; Daughter Laura (Brian) Baker ; son F. Brian Taube and his fiance Christy Hall all of Des Moines.

A memorial Masonic Service will be held 12 Noon Friday May 20, 2011 at the AMVETS hall, 2818 5th Ave. in Des Moines, conducted by East Gate Masonic Lodge with a luncheon and reception to follow at the hall.

In lieu of flowers memorials will go to East Gate Masonic Lodge #630 or Camp Fire USA.
