SEVIERVILLE, TENN. - Violet E. Brannen, 70, of Sevierville died of a heart attack Monday at the University of Tennessee Medical Center in Knoxville. services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Dunn's Funeral Home in Des Moines, with burial in Masonic Cemetery there.

Mrs. Brannen was born in Norton, Kan., and lived in Des Moines 40 years before moving to Tennessee two years ago. She retired as canteen services supervisor at Veterans Medical Center in Des Moines and was a member of the Presbyterian Church.

Surviving are two sons, Richard of Des Moines and Jerry of Johnston; a daughter, Candace Kluxen of Sevierville; a sister, Pauline Poledna of Douglas, Ariz.; and six grandchildren.

Friends may call after 2 p.m. today at the funeral home, where the family will meet friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the University of Tennessee Medical Center's open-heart unit. ~ The Des Moines Register, Des Moines, Iowa Fri 16 Aug 1991.
