MARTIN KOOYMAN

The following life story of Martin Kooyman, brother of Simon Kooyman of Pella, is from the Des Moines Tribune of Sept. 17.

Martin Kooyman, 67, a Bondurant farmer, died of heart and kidney ailments Saturday, Sept. 15, at Wilden Osteopathic Hospital, Des Moines, Iowa.

A native of The Netherlands, Mr. Kooyman came to this country in 1893 with his parents, who settled at Pella. In 1916 he was married at Knoxville to Cornelia Verwers, who survives.

Mr. Kooyman had farmed 32 years near Bondurant, having previosly farmed at Prairie City. He was a member of Bondurant Federated Church.

Surviving, besides his widow, are three daughters, Mrs. Margaret Cornelison of Des Moines, Edna Kooyman of Minneapolis, Minn., and Mrs. Ruth Berkenholtz of Monroe; four sons, Robert Kooyman of Des Moines, Wilbur Kooyman of Cambridge, Simon Kooyman of Bondurant, and Dale Kooyman of Cedar Rapids; a sister, Martha Kooyman of Oskaloosa; two brothers, Tunis Kooyman of Oskaloosa and Simon Kooyman of Pella, and nine grandchildren.

Services were held at 2 p.m. Monday at the Bondurant Federated Church, with the Rey. W. La Roy Anderson, pastor, in charge. Burial was in Bondurant Cemetery.

Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Kooyman and Mr. and Mrs. Chris Mol of Pella attended the services.
