Frank Trimble, 91, formerly of Des Moines, passed away on February 5, 2013, at New Ulm Medical Center in New Ulm, Minnesota.

Frank was born on March 11, 1921, in Kingsport, Tennessee, to James and Hester Trimble.

When he was 13, he and his family moved to Valley Junction where he attended and graduated from Valley High School. During WWII, he served in the Navy and was stationed in New Guinea. Being a veteran was a great source of pride for Frank.

On July 4, 1952, he married Lois Fisher. They made their home in West Des Moines until 1963, when his job with Penn-Dixie Cement Corp. transferred them to Petoskey, Michigan. They lived there until his retirement when they returned to Des Moines to be near family.

In September 2012, they moved to rural Minnesota to live with their daughter and son-in-law.

Frank enjoyed fishing, golfing, reading, and as long as he was able, he loved working in his yard and garden. He tried his hand at many creative endeavors over the years, including making candles, woodworking projects, and wine and beer making.

Frank is survived by his wife of 60 years Lois; daughter and son-in-law, Cindi (Kenneth) Briese of Gibbon, Minnesota, son and daughter-in-law, Michael (Carol) Hammond of Carlos, Minnesota; sisters, Margaret Weissinger and Dorothy Arnevik; sister-in-law, Jackie Wilde and Donald Gale; all of Des Moines; granddaughter, Cheyenne Briese of Gibbon, Minnesota; grandsons, Mark (Cindi) Hammond and Keith (Lynne) Hammond, both of Farmington, Minnesota; and great-grandchildren, Leah, Lexi, Ella, and Owen Hammond, and many nieces, nephews, and friends.

Memorial Service For

Frank and Lois Trimble

There will be a memorial service for Frank and Lois Trimble on Tuesday, June 4 at Fort Des Moines United Methodist Church, 6205 SW 9th St. Visitation begins at 10:30 a.m., service will start at 11 a.m.

Both Frank and Lois passed away this past winter in Minnesota.
