Des Moines Register, Saturday, November 17, 1923:

"Funeral services for Thomas Griffin, slain in the Rock Island yards Thursday night, will be held at St. Ambrose cathedral Monday morning at 9 o'clock. Interment will be in the family plot in St. Ambrose Cemetery. The pallbearers will be chosen from special agents of the Rock Island Railroad. The body will lie in state at McDermott's Funeral Home until the time of the funeral.

Mr. Griffin is survived by his 13-year-old daughter, Margaret; three brothers, John F. Griffin, former sheriff of Polk County; P. J. Griffin, special agent for the Rock Island Railroad, and James Griffin, fire department captain; and one sister Mrs. John MacMahon. All live in Des Moines."
