Glenn Stevens, 89, passed away November 28, 2012. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m., Monday, December 3 at Merle Hay Funeral Home, 4400 Merle Hay Rd, with burial to follow at Chapel Hill Gardens. The family will greet friends from 2 to 4 p.m. on Sunday, December 2 at the funeral home.

Glenn is survived by his wife of 58 years, Marjorie; three sons, John Stevens of Des Moines, Donald (Vicki) Stevens of Exira, and Michael (Yolanda) Stevens of Bondurant and grandchildren, Debra, Randall, Breanne and Travis. He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother and two sisters.

Glenn M. Stevens, 89, passed away November 28, 2012.

Glenn was born in Des Moines, IA on August 29, 1923 to John Ellis and Rose Ann Stevens. He grew up on the south side of Des Moines and graduated from Lincoln High School in 1941. Glenn married Marjorie L. Fayer on April 3, 1954 and they had three sons, John, Donald and Michael.

Glenn attended the National Youth Administration and taught drafting and worked in the machine shop for several years. Glenn was employed in the automotive industry as a mechanic for many years, including in the brake and clutch business. He worked at Anderson Parts Service, Ackerman Auto Parts and Better Brake Service in Des Moines before working at Mitchellville Trans until his retirement in 2003. Glenn raced Midget Race Cars from 1945 to 1951 and raced them in Iowa, Minnesota and Missouri. He was also a member of the Grandview Church of Christ in Des Moines.

Glenn is survived by his wife of 58 years, Marjorie; three sons, John Stevens of Des Moines, Donald (Vicki) Stevens of Exira, and Michael (Yolanda) Stevens of Bondurant and grandchildren, Debra, Randall, Breanne, Travis, Koby and Brooklyn.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother and two sisters.
