Donald "Duck" Roby, 76, passed away Sunday, November 25, 2012 in Winter Haven FL after a long battle with COPD.

Duck was born on November 3, 1936 to Robert and Mildred Roby of Centerville, IA. He was the youngest of 6 children. The family moved to Des Moines, IA in the 40's, where he lived most of his life.

He married Donnie Lutz on October 3, 1953. Later that year he joined the Airforce where he served as a weapon firing and radar technician for nine and a half years before receiving an honorable discharge for medical reasons. His profession took him from Florida to Alaska. After leaving the service, he returned to Des Moines.

Duck and Donnie had 3 sons; Don, Ricky, Timothy and later divorced after 27 years. They remained friends until Donnie's death in 1998.

He was a current member of the Masonic Lodge of East Gate in Des Moines and the Za-Ga-Zig Shriners. He was also a member of the Eagles, Elks and Moose lodges.

He is preceded in death by his parents, 3 brothers; Bob, Bill and Jack Roby, and 2 sisters; Maxine Roby and Betty Patterson.

He is survived by 3 sons; Don and Wife Jean Roby of Winter Haven, FL, Ricky and wife Vicky Roby of Mason City, IA, Tim Roby of Indian Mound, TN, six grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.

Memorial services will be held at a later date.
