Dorothy C. Sanders, 97, passed away at home Sunday, July 22, 2012.

Dorothy was born January 22, 1915 in Des Moines to Nels and Augusta (Johnson) Anderson. On August 26, 1938 she was married to Henry Sanders. She graduated from Drake University and worked for Tri-State Theatre Corp. until her retirement in 1955. She also spent many years as a sketcher for Younkers. Dorothy was a member of St. Luke's Episcopal Church.

Dorothy is survived by her daughter, Joy Sanders; first cousin, Irene Schossow, second cousin, Bill (Dianne) Schossow; and many other friends and family. She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry Sanders, and her brothers, Louis, Dewey and Clifford Anderson.

Visitation will be held from 10:00 am. to 11 a.m. Thursday, July 26, 2012 at Hamilton's Funeral Home, 605 Lyon St., followed by a graveside service at the Masonic Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Central Iowa.
