James W. Miller

James W. Miller, son of Francis and Harriet Miller was born November 23, 1862, on the Old Miller Farm in Franklin Township, Bondurant, Ia., and peacefully passed away at his home at 3:30 p.m. Saturday, April 7th, 1934, where he has continously resided for the past thirty-nine years, having spent his entire life in the community. Aged 71 years, 4 months and 14 days.

On September 10th, 1885 he was united in marriage to Tillie E. Maxwell of this community and to this union three children were born, Lulu, Ora and Veda.

About thirty-six years ago Brother Miller confessed Christ, was baptized and united with the Cory Grove United Brethren Church. He was a good man, a devoted husband, a kind and loving father, and a faithful friend. He was a patient sufferer during his long illness and enjoyed the many visits and encouraging words of his friends and neighbors.

He leaves to mourn a wife, two daughters, Lulu Oliver and Veda Underwood of Bondurant, one son Ora Miller of ---, Iowa, three grandchildren, Mildred, Vernon and James Miller, one sister, Mrs. Eva Everly of Des Moines, Iowa, one brother John Miller, of Pasadena, California, other relatives and many friends.

Funeral services were conducted at the home at 2:30 p.m. on Monday, April 9, 1934, by the Rev. E.A. Elliott of Des Moines. Music was furnished by the Rev. and Mrs. John Ivan LaFavre of Loring, Iowa. Interment was in the Cory Grove cemetery. The pallbearers were; Raymond and Norman Miller, George Everly, Frank and Odest Maxwell and Everett Miller.
