IOWA STATE LEADER, Des Moines, Iowa Friday, July 20, 1877

SPRAGUE - On Thursday, the 19th inst., James G. Sprague, aged 67 years.

Funeral from his late residence, 714 Cherry Street at 10 o'clock a.m. Saturday. Friends of the family are respectfully invited to attend.

Mr. Sprague was the father of C. D. Sprague, Esq., and has been a resident of Des Moines for about four years. He has been quite feeble during his entire residence here and is therefore not widely known, but those who have met his sons, C.D. Sprague and Mr. James Sprague of the United States Navy, may read his life characteristics in their ways and work. He was born in Vermont but lived most of his life in New York state a merchant. James was here to see him and visiting his brother's family and had gone as far as Chicago on his way back to duty. He was telegraphed for and arrived to day.
