THE IOWA STATE LEADER, Des Moines, Iowa Friday, July 6, 1877

DIED - Little Frankie Swift died last night at 11 o'clock, after a painful illness of a week, from inflamation of the stomach. She was the youngest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. A. Swift, the pet of the family and a universal favorite with friends and relatives. Seven years had marked the space of her existance, but that can convey no idea of the beauties of her life or the loviness of her character. Always before having enjoyed goo health, and being naturally vivacious, her laughter and light step had run into the life of parents and friends, with a melody like the dimpling of cool streams in a desert, put there by the Father whose works are for the blessing of his children. Today when all the earth is green, when every bud blossoms that it may show its bright face to the blue sky; today when so much happiness seemed in store for these parents who had treasured their love in this casket, 'Death lies on her like an untimely frost, Upon the sweetest flower of all the field', and mourning has succeeded mirth.
Frankie had been a member of the Christian sabbath school and will be sadly missed there too, for everwhere her sweet nature reared the temple of friendship and bitter pangs of grief will be felt by many this day, as her body is laid at rest.
The funeral will take place at 4 o'clock today from the family residence, 1120 Center Street.
