THE IOWA STATE LEADER, Des Moines, Iowa Wednesday, July 11, 1877.

ANOTHER DEATH BY ACCIDENT - Last night a man named N. Beasly, who worked for Mr. Mattes, the brewer, and slept in the loft of the brewery, fell while asleep and was found by Mr. Mattes, whom he awakened by his groans, in a dreadful condition. He fell about fifteen feet to the floor below, and broke three of his ribs. His face or forehead was also cut. Some of the broken ribs penetrated the lung so as to allow the air to escape under the skin. Mr. Beasly was a very large man and the fall shocked his system greatly as well as breaking the ribs. He was conscious a few moments after being found but became unconscious before the arrival of the physicians who had been summoned immediately to the Avenue House, where the injured man was taken, and remained unconscious until he died, about four o'clock this morning. Drs. McGorrisk and Patchin attended him but nothing could be done to save his life, the injuries were so great.
