“Fred C. Ohland, 78, of Altoona, died of a heart condition Sunday at Mercy Hospital after a brief illness.

Services will be at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Altoona Christian Church, of which he was a member, with burial in the Altoona Cemetery.

A retired state highway maintenance workman, Mr. Ohland was born in Newburg in Jasper County and lived in Altoona for the past 38 years.

Surviving are his wife LaVeda; a son Lloyd of Altoona, a daughter, Mrs. Dorothy Young of Seattle, Wash., and six grandchildren.

The body is at Moffitt Funeral Home in Altoona.”

Fred Charles Ohland was born on September 3, 1895 in Newburg to Marcus Ohland and Helen Sophia Reimers, and departed this life August 4, 1974 in Altoona.
