Mrs. Martha A. Saylor died at 2 o'clock a.m. Saturday at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Leida Fox, 916 Grove street, this city, at the age of 86 years and 8 months. Mrs. Saylor was born near Lafayette, Ind., March 4, 1830, and came to Des Moines with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Solomon Bales, arriving Oct. 16, 1846. She was married to John P. Saylor Oct. 19, 1848. She united with the First Methodist church organized at Saylorville in the year 1850. To Mr. and Mrs. Saylor were born six children, three of whom, Mrs. Leida Fox and F.A. Saylor of Des Moines, and Edgar G. Saylor of Los Angeles, survive.
