Jacksonville, Florida

Iris Louise Deeds, 81, of Jacksonville, Fl., formerly of Des Moines, passed away on May 28, 2011 at the Earl B. Hadlow Center for Caring Hospice. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, June 4, 2011 at McLaren's Chapel, 801-19th Street, West Des Moines with interment at Sunset Memorial Gardens.

Iris was born on March 9, 1930 in Jewell, IA to the late Jacob and Hannah (Risvold) Sexe. She was a homemaker, and attended the Indianola Heights Evangelical Free Church in Des Moines. Iris enjoyed crocheting, knitting, she loved her pets, and her world revolved around her family.

She is survived by her loving husband of 64 years, Robert E. Deeds of Jacksonville; her daughter, Cathy (Mike) Fisher; her son, Paul (Carla) Deeds; her sister, Patty Sexe; her three grandchildren, Christina Fisher, Brian (Marta) Deeds, and Jessica (Chris) Campbell; her great-granddaughter, Aimee Deeds; and her daughter-in-law, Donna Deeds.

Iris was preceded in death by three children, Steve Deeds, Steven Douglas Deeds, and Barbara Jean Deeds; her brothers, Vernon, Phillip, Duane, and Jerry; and her sisters, Marie, Delores, Jean, Karen, and Gloria.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at McLaren's Chapel. Memorial donations may be made in memory of Iris to the Shriners Hospital for Children, 2000 Rocky Point Dr., Tampa, FL 33607.
