SCOTT NEEL, West Des Moines, Iowa

Scott Neel, 48, died on January 23, 2011, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines.

He was born on March 21, 1962, in Fullerton, CA, and grew up in Kenai, AK. Scott graduated from the University of Iowa and earned his Masters Degree from Iowa State University. He taught in Alaska and in Iowa. He most recently was employed by Computer Science Corporation. Scott was an accomplished organist and accompanied the St. Augustin's Choir.

Scott is survived by his wife, Rosemary; children, Peter and Stephany Neel; mother, Jeanette Neel; sister, Shannon (Marc) Kovac; brothers, Kevin (Debbie), Matt (Julye), and Peter (Sherry) Neel; mother-in-law, Josephine Biagioli; sister-in-law, Therese (Burley) Davis; brothers-in-law, Frank Biagioli and Joe Biagioli; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Clifford Neel.

Scott's family will be forever grateful to Dr. Thomas Buroker and the staff at John Stoddard Cancer Center for the excellent care that was given to Scott.

Memorial Mass will be 12 p.m., Saturday, January 29, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in West Des Moines. Visitation will begin at 11 a.m. until Mass on Saturday morning at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to John Stoddard Cancer Center.
